Memphis Beat

I like Memphis Beat. A lot.

After I got over the fact that this is Jason Lee, who had a kid with Beth Riesgraf (Parker from Leverage) and named him Pilot Inspektor, I loved Dwight Hendricks.

I like this show because it is exactly what its tagline claims- "Down home justice meets Southern charm." See, I may be Cuban, but I live in the South. I love the South, and I feel as if in today's liberal world, we're just represented as stupid, gun-toting, conservative rednecks. And this show portrays the South as what we really are.

It's a cop show, and I love those. Dwight Hendricks is a Detective. Murders and kidnappings are solved. Yay! But, there's also comedy. There's family. And that's what I truly love.

My favorite episodes so far are the last two. In "Love Her Tender"," a teenage girl goes missing. And I have a thing for guys who are all protective of the ladies (especially the young ones), and Dwight was all over that in this episode. It was one of those "Why-Doesn't-He-Have-A-Little-Girl" episodes. Then, in "Polk Salad Annie," it was all about the barbecue. YUMMMMM.

So, anyway, there's also Dwight's ex-wife (apparently they were only married for eight weeks), Alex. She's adorable. Dwight tries to fix everything for her (he's a fixer, something else I like), and she hates that. But he LOVES her (yes, I ship them, duh).

The other detectives are great, too. Just more Southern Boys. Plus, the Lieutenant is cool- very motherly. And I like his Momma.

Okay, this blog post sucks. Mainly because it's eleven pm. But, whatever. Here ya go. I may edit later.

Covert Affairs

I also loved Covert Affairs, which premiered last night on USA. It follows the adventures of new CIA agent Annie Walker (played by the always adorable Piper Perabo). Her "guide" (insert ironic joke here, he says) and friend is the blind Auggie Anderson (who is played by Christopher Gorham, who killed a whole bunch of people on Harper's Island and was really creepy but is superrrr adorable on Covert Affairs).

It's a cool spy thriller (from the creator of the Bourne series, so you know the spy stuff is gonna be good), but it, like all USA shows, character driven.

In the middle of it all are Annie and Auggie, who are adorable, especially together. I ship them. Duh. If you don't, then I don't just know about you. The cuteness is overwhelming. My favorite scene is when they go out for drinks(:

Also, Maggie from Leverage (Nate's ex-wife) stars in this show. I think her name is Joan, but I just call her Maggie.

I like not only the characters, not only the thrilling action (because holy crap, on Annie's first day/assignment, she almost got killed. Twice.), but also the life at the CIA. It's interesting. It's entertaining. It's often funny.

USA does shows the right way.

P.S.- I keep having dreams about this show. Adorable Annie/Auggie dreams.

Tweets:

And now #CovertAffairs! I'm excited.

Dear Piper Perabo, it's really not fair how adorable you are.#CovertAffairs

"Blind guy leading you around the CIA... Insert ironic joke here." I already love Auggie. #CovertAffairs

"In fact, the CIA encourages dating in the agency." (:

Hey! Look! It's Maggie Ford! #CovertAffairs #Leverage

"You're outnumbered four to one by men who'll hold the door open and call you ma'am and can change a tire." yummy. #CovertAffairs

So I totally already ship Auggie/Annie. Duh. #CovertAffairs

"Or as we call it, Thursday at the agency." #CovertAffairs

Dear Auggie, I love you. Lots. xoxo, Bryn.

So, supervisor lady, I think Joan, I'm going to call you Maggie. Because you're obviously Maggie. #CovertAffairs

"Because I'm not a CIA wife. I'm a wife who works for the CIA." Love it. You go, Maggie. #CovertAffairs

I would probably want to hit that guy in the face. Auggie is 800,000 times more adorable. Have I mentioned that I love Auggie?#CovertAffairs

ANGELL!!!!!!!! Dear God, I miss her. And her being with Flack. I'll say it again- ANGELL!!!!! #CovertAffairs

Oh, Auggie. I knew you would come. #CovertAffairs

"What are you? Sight-ist?" #CovertAffairs

"Go get him, girls." #CovertAffairs

Mustachioed freak! Gaaah!

Yeah, Stas, you look Spanish. Not Russian. #CovertAffairs

So, here's this award, but you can't actually have it. "The agency giveth, and the agency taketh away." #CovertAffairs

Yeah, cuz him being part of the plot is SUCH a surprise. Not. And the name Ben Mercer? Ridiculously familiar. #CovertAffairs

My parents just told me that I should be in the CIA because I speak multiple languages. #CovertAffairs

Rizzoli and Isles

I absolutely LOVED Rizzoli and Isles. It was AWESOME.

First of all, I love the actresses. They're great. I liked them as Abbie Carmichael on L&O and Kate Todd on NCIS. Combine two actresses I love and I'm guaranteed to at least like the show a little bit.

But that's not why we love a show, is it? No. More importantly, I like the characters they play. Jane Rizzoli is a strong woman with a sense of humor a la *insert sarcastic comment here* which I love/am famous for. Maura Isles is smart and beautiful, but a little different (think Bones, but more "I like knowledge!" than "I know this, so I'm obviously better than you).

What's great is their friendship. Opposites attract, amiright? It's the age old combination of street smarts and book smarts. They're best friends, and I like that. Most friendships on TV are male/female, and this one being female/female is nice because, a) it's different, and, b) everyone needs girl time.

However, during the premiere, most people tweeted stuff like "OMG THE SEXUAL TENSION" "Kiss already!" "OH GOD they're in the bed!" "Oh the femslash being written". I did not. See, while, first of all, I don't think I would ever be for a gay couple (sorry, guys. just not me), I just didn't see it. It goes to the age old Two People Can Be Friends Without Having a Relationship. These two are no exception. Not to mention, it just isn't in their character. Both are obviously straight- hello, they flirt with Not-Charlie-Swan-FBI-Agent.

It was a fantastic episode- we got some backstory, some danger (in the first ep! so exciting!), friendship, and fun. I can't wait for the next ep!

(And here are my Tweets- It was very quotable)

#RizzoliandIsles!!!!!! Excitement.

Hee. I love the brother and sister fun(; Seems like my house.

That opening was darn awesome. #RizzoliandIsles

So do they know each other already? I hope so. I like established friendship. It will be especially interesting for a female one.

Since most close friendships on tv are male/female, this should be an interesting dynamic. #RizzoliandIsles

This dude was obviously a serial killer on CM. Methinks from 'Riding the Lightning'. And apparently I missed Billy Burke. #RizzoliandIsles

I like her protective and yet squeamish partner. I like protective partners... Or protective men in general. #RizzoliandIsles

Oh. Billy Burke is the FBI agent. Obviously, I'm just blind. Way to go, Bryn. #RizzoliandIsles

Oh, weirdness. Abbie Carmichael, Kaitlyn Todd, and Charlie Swan all together. Slightly confusing. #RizzoliandIsles

Awww. I love protective big brother. And her neighbor is very familiar. #RizzoliandIsles

"Oh, my God. Did you bring the dog, too?" ... "Where are you going?" "Someplace where you are not." #RizzoliandIsles

"Why do you always look like you're about to do a photo shoot?" Ahaha I love her tortoise. "You're better than Wikipedia."#RizzoliandIsles

As long as they aren't lesbians, I could really love these two. Lesbian would be awkward. Yay for them liking a guy! Wait. I'm sorry...
Did that sound homophobic or anything? So wasn't meant to be. I just prefer best friends to lesbians. #RizzoliandIsles

Hee. He says unsub. Awesome. #RizzoliandIsles

Maura is a lot like Bones, but girlier... and slightly more normal.#RizzoliandIsles

No! Korsak can't die! I like him!

"That's need to know." "Oh, you fed guys actually say that?!"#RizzoliandIsles

"Well, are you hungry? For food?" #RizzoliandIsles

XD I love the ringtones. #RizzoliandIsles

I was superrr sad when I thought Marisa was dead, and then I swear I jumped two feet off the couch. #RizzoliandIsles

Dear Billy Burke, you should recur. Because I like you. And I kind of like you with Jane. So, come back, kthxbai. #RizzoliandIsles

So, I want to blog about my other new shows, Covert Affairs and Memphis Beat, but I have volleyball practice. And would like lunch while I'm at it. If you don't mind.

Be back tonight and/or tomorrow.

I Hate CBS.

I don't think that the last two letters of CBS are any coincidence. According to my friend Alex K, it stands for Constant Bull S**t, or possibly Constant Bulls**t Station.

Here's what else Alex had to say (from Twitter):

"It's official. I'm watching the CSI premiere to see how they handle (or don't) Wendy's departure, and then I'm done. Done.

Maybe I'll watch some of the interesting episodes of CM this fall, but I've had it with this crap. I no longer have any reason to watch CBS.

I can't deal with a network that has no respect for its shows. They have no respect for the fans; no respect for their employees. I'm done.

They killed Numb3rs for no good reason, rehired Sheen for no good reason, cut Cook for no good reason, cut Vassey for no good reason...

There's a list of things in the past several months, and they all conclude with CBS doing something for no good reason and it pisses me off.

So in conclusion: Go to hell, CBS. Maybe it's an overreaction, but I just don't care anymore."

I can't help but agree. These are the CBS shows I watch(ed):

CSI:Miami
NCIS
NCIS:LA
Criminal Minds
CSI:NY
CSI:
Numb3rs

That's seven. Of those seven, only two (technically three) are unaffected by CBS BS.

CSI:Miami- getting rid of Eddie Cibrian because Adam Rodriguez decided to come back. While I'm all for the ensemble cast that has worked so well, I really liked Jesse, and he was a great addition to the show. I'm tired of the CBS people getting a new person and then deciding to take them off because they don't think they fit well (Remember Riley Adams?). And I've heard that the season premiere ends with a funeral- if he dies, I will be even more pissed.

NCIS- Unaffected, as far as I know. But I wouldn't be surprised.

NCIS:LA- Also unaffected as far as I know.

Criminal Minds- This could get its own blog post. They have decided to cut AJ Cook (J.J.) completely, and seriously limit Paget Brewster (Emily). Wtf? First of all, they're my favorites- especially Emily. I mean, the show is mainly about the guys, and they were some great female characters to balance them out. There is no good reason for this, and all of the actors were blindsided. The fans put out a petition and there was a huge campaign to "Save the CM Ladies!" but it's a done deal. This brings us back to what Alex said about them having no respect for their shows, employees, or fans. This show works with an ensemble cast, which is SO important to the CSIs (enough to cut "replacement" characters), and yet for CM, a show that's had the same characters for most of its run, they're cutting two main characters to "shake things up". Case in point, no respect for the show. Then, the actors were all totally blindsided. The girls were upset, and so were all of their cast mates. In fact, the other actors were at the very front of the campaign. No respect for employees. And, when the fans launched a huge campaign (graphics, twibbons, a petition with tens of thousands of signatures overnight), nothing happened. Tons of people are going to stop watching the show. Apparently, CBS doesn't care. No respect for the fans. This was the first part of hating CBS- the other things are just the straws that broke the camel's back. I still can't get over this- CM was one of my favorite shows, but how can I love it without Snarky Emily?

CSI:NY- Melina Kanakaredes is leaving. Okay, so this isn't CBS, this is her own personal choice, but still. Stella is one of my favorite TV characters. Plus, SMacked was starting to heat up. I'm very sad.

CSI:- Apparently, they're getting rid of Liz Vassey (Wendy) for no good reason. They're replacing her with some explosives chick who' supposed to be hot (and could be romantic for Nick, from something I heard). And, while romance for Nick is always good, it should not be at the expense of another character that is well-liked. Especially when Wendy was getting development (mainly in the Hodges department).

Numb3rs- Cancelled. For no good reason. Again, the fans launched a campaign. Went at it. We love N3. We told them we love N3. And... it's gone. For NO GOOD REASON. That's what pisses me off the most. Everything that I have complained about in this post is for NO GOOD REASON.

And while we're on the subject of reasons- they're bringing back Charlie Sheen (A FELON WHO HITS HIS WIFE). Do you know how much he gets paid per episode? Millions. And then they claim that these actors are being fired for "financial" reasons. Um, you can't afford your ensemble cast, but you can pay A FELON millions per episode? What BS.

Paget Brewster said this about reasons (via Twitter): "Creative Reasons" has been an Executive Bullshit excuse for DECADES. It IS financial. AJ is a dreamboat. And yes, I am hurt, too.

So, what is the point of even watching ANY CBS show anymore? I mean, I like them. I like the plot, the characters (the ones that are left, anyway). But, I mean, why support a station that obviously doesn't care what I want? The CM cast (including/especially AJ and Paget) says to continue watching, to support their friends. And I LOVE CM. I'm just... So angry.

In the words of Alex, Go to Hell, CBS.

I hate you.

Bryn's TV Schedule

*Sigh* It's jam-packed. There are shows that come on at the same time, shows that come on late, and shows that are never going to get watched with my crazy schedule of dance/gymnastics/volleyball/homework. So, needless to say, I will be making heavy use of On Demand and Hulu and hopefully my DVD recorder- like on Tuesdays OMG.

Anyway, this is it.

Leverage Fanfiction

So, we hypothesized that about 95% of Leverage fics revolved around Eliot. Well, then we got REALLY bored and decided to find out for real. We conducted a VERY scientific study to break down Leverage fanfiction. Basically, we went through the first 100 Leverage fics as listed on fanfiction.net and classified them by pairing and character.

Here are our results:
Eliot/Parker: 22%
Eliot/Nate: 5%
Hardison/Parker: 1%
Parker/Sophie: 2%
Nate/Sophie: 5%
Hardison/Eliot: 7%
Nate/Parker: 2%
Eliot/Sophie: 3%

Just Eliot: 24%
Just Parker: 5%
Just Hardison: 2%
Just Nate: 3%
Just Sophie: 2%
Just Tara: 1%
Team: 14%
Other: 2%

Then, we decided to combine each category into characters (for example, Eliot's total is E/P + E/N + E/H + Team...) to see how many stories they each appeared in (including Team).

Eliot: 75/100 (That's THREE QUARTERS, people!)
Nate: 29/100
Parker: 46/100
Sophie: 26/100
Hardison: 24/100

Obviously, Eliot is the favorite and the favorite pairing is Eliot/Parker- which is cool, since Eliot just so happens to be Bryn's favorite character and she ships E/P(: Mila leans more towards H/P.

Anyway, that's just out of the most recent 100 fics posted. Maybe someone will get bored enough one day to actually go through ALL of them and give us legit figures.

FYI, we have the MOST BORING sleepovers EVER.
Obviously.

Love,
Bryn and Mila

Anyway, post your fics wherever you'd like and just send us the links!

Ours will be up soon.

Can't wait!

Numb3rs

So, The Original Spy has me hooked on Numb3rs now. Thanks.

(Visit her blog- theoriginalspy.blogspot.com for tons of Numb3rs awesomeness).

So, what do you need to know?
I am a die-hard Charmita shipper (Charlie/Amita).

Colby is hawt and made of win.
Also, introducing my Numb3rs character....
Sarah Abigail Eppes
Baby Sister of Don and Charlie and Significant Other of Colby.
FBI Profiler.
Why?
Because the Eppes Brothers need a Baby Sister, Alan needs a Little Girl, and Colby deserves some loving because he's made of win.
Thoughts?
~B

P.S. That was the best picture I could find, because cool character pictures didn't include Amita and Colby, which is just an epic fail.

Bones' Toasts

So, I've been thinking about the toasts that Brennan makes and what they show us. Also, I've been bored, and reading Numb3rs recaps, but can't actually do any recapping because SOMEONE (*cough*) has all of my DVDs. All of them. (Oh, wait. I do have 'Profiler, Profiled'. Hmmm....) Anyway, thank you for getting past my rather random ramblings. Onto actual substance...

#1- 'The Con Man in the Meth Lab'
(Side note: First Lily entries. Anyway, the toast.)

"Anthropology teaches us that the alpha male is the man wearing the crown, displaying the most colorful plumage and the shiniest baubles. He stands out from the others. But I now think that anthropology may have it wrong. In working with Booth, I've come to realize that the quiet man, the invisible man, the man who's always there for friends and family... that's a real alpha male. And I promise my eyes will never be caught by those shiny baubles again."

Okay... Analysis time. (Let's think Pre-IB English I for this, mmmkay?)
This one isn't as good as the next one, but let's point out one of the biggest things: She says that anthropology has something wrong. In other words, she is willing to deny everything that she has ever believed because of Booth. Hello.
Then, she goes on to point out his Alpha Male qualities, the biggest of which I think is that he's always there for friends and family. I'm thinking that THAT is what makes him the Alpha Male to her. Sure, the Alpha Male is the one that's going to scare he bad guys away (which he does), but the Alpha Male (in our society) is who you want to turn to.
Finally, she ends it by saying that she will "never be caught by those shiny baubles again." In other words, no matter how attractive, how rich, how whatever any guy could be, she's come to realize that no one is going to be better than Booth.
And that's fricking significant.

#2- 'The Dentist in the Ditch'
(No sidenote this time.)

"When Booth and I first met, I didn't believe that such a thing as love existed. I maintained that it was simply brain chemistry, but perhaps Booth is correct. Perhaps love comes first and creates the reaction. I have no tangible proof, but I'm willing to accept Booth's premise."

All right, let's start with how she opens this- "When Booth and I first met..."
Now, what does this sound like to you? Because when I talk about friends, I don't start off like that. However, when I hear people in love (especially married people) talk about changes that have occurred over the course of relationships, they introduce it like that. It's just another phrase that her and Booth use that sound like they're married.
Next- She changed her beliefs. Again. (See previous toast) Again, it's because of Booth that she's going to deny her previous beliefs- deny SCIENCE. That's just very significant to me.
Lastly, she says she has no tangible proof for Booth's theory, which can be looked at one of two ways.
1) Complete crap. Her and Booth love each other.
or
2) She doesn't have brain scans like Sweets does. Therefore, she doesn't know how their brain chemicals have been fluctuating since they met. That could be what she means by "tangible" proof- something scientific that she can hold in her hand, as opposed to feelings.

Honestly, I'm really hoping for some more toasts, because they give a lot of insight into the character of Brennan and her feelings, especially pertaining to Booth.
After all, we have quite a bit of insight into Booth's feelings, but not so much vice versa.

Interesting Relevance

So, this like for real just happened.
So, my mom was watching 'Penelope', and then this went down:

me: Oh my gosh! This is my favorite episode. Ever. Ever, ever.

Madre: (Now, the episode opens with no exposition- Garcia is just getting hauled off on a stretcher) What happened to her?

me: *deep breath* Okay. So, she went out on a date with this guy- well, she met him at a coffee shop because his computer was broken and then she fixed it and then he asked her out. And then she freaked out because she doesn't talk to strangers. And then Morgan- well, Morgan was just jealous, and then she got pissed off at him and went out with the guy. And then her date shoots her. Well, they said good-bye and she was all happy because it went well and he was cute and then he was like, "Hey, Garcia, I've been waiting to do this all night," and then he SHOT HER. But this is the best episode EVER.

Madre: (Understanding my obsession with Morgan and his protectiveness) And then he hunts him down and shoots him?

me: Oh yeah. Well, technically, Jayje shoots him, but it's still super awesome and omg.

Thirty minutes later, my Madre is in bed and I am internally squeeing at the "I love you"'s (for the what, eightieth time?). And now this is my favorite part, even though I should be watching Bones...

And aren't you glad you don't have real life conversations with me? I'm a little intense.

'The Dentist in the Ditch'

Wow. I haven't posted since 'The Foot in the Foreclosure'? Really. *headdesk* *ignores six week grounding*

Anyway... Live Tweeting. Mostly.

Jared. Am I happy or angry?

Jared, I only connect Padme to Star Wars. Just fyi.

Vincent. Again, should I be happy or not?

Ohmygod! Bugs. *shudder*

"I'm going to go burn all of my clothes, and maybe my hair." I love Cam.

Awww! Jared said that he got his hero stuff from Booth.

Wow! Parker is in third grade already?

I must admit, I did enjoy VNM's grumbling.

"I'm gay and I hunt. Get over it." This goes with my gay football team spoiler- gay and football don't exactly mix.

I was totally thinking that those are football injuries.

Football = Testosterone

Thirty-three minutes in and Angela finally decides to show up.

"You got that big brother look all over your face..."

The first thing that occurred to me was that if someone told Booth that Bones used to be a prostitute, he'd be like, "That's nice."

"He is a genius." "Well, we all are, except for Angela."

And, then, apparently, I didn't find the last fifteen minutes important, so I just stopped. But I enjoyed this scene:

Brennan decides to toast Jared and Padme, because, apparently, she likes giving really sappy toasts that basically talk about how much she loves Booth. This one was... *thanks Wikiquote*

Brennan: When Booth and I first met, I didn't believe that such a thing as love existed. I maintained that it was simply brain chemistry, but perhaps Booth is correct. Perhaps love comes first and creates the reaction. I have no tangible proof, but I'm willing to accept Booth's premise.

Bam!

Anyway, also, Angela rocks, although she was mostly absent. (Apparently we are to be punished for overdosing on Hodgela and squee!-ing too much last episode, so Angela is just absent now). Anyway, she rocks because she said this:

Hodgins: Do you know what Vincent Nigel-Murray is? He's a genius.
Brennan: Yes, but so are we all. Except for Angela.
Angela: Oh, right, and yet who do you turn to when you need pretty pictures?

Although I am still slightly mad at her for dating Wendell.

That's... That's pretty much it.

Since I am no longer grounded, look forward to actual recaps of multiple shows. As in, Burn Notice 3.5 premiere next? Sure? Okay.

One more thing- There is no picture for this because Google is currently made of fail.

Lastly- Dear Blogspot, I really hate your random crappy formatting. Thanks, B.

That is all.
